Y’know, I feel like continuing on this. We obviously all realize not all political acts have to be meaningful. People sign petitions, rant about voting, argue about worthless culture war issues, etc, all until hell freezes over. Companies spend millions on diversity trainings that make employees more racist. The only difference between this and that is this ritual is fun. It’s as though we’ve decided the only proper rituals for politics are the kind that make us suffer, that punish us for being naughty participants in our doomed political enterprise, that might purge us of our collective sins. Nobody is claiming this is "victory". Nobody is claiming the liberals are "winning" because of a hashtag. It's meant to be poking fun; that's literally all it is. And its existence doesn't somehow preclude other forms of political action.

To complain that this hashtag isn't effective at literally combatting hate groups is a bit like complaining that the cartoon in the newspaper isn't effective at overthrowing the governing party. Well, no shit, Sherlock, that's not the point.

I love the fact that he's doing that in front of a picture of himself. And that photo looks a bit...disconcerted at what is happening in front of it.

It's really not "for" the proud boys. The mocking is for the other side, to flip them off on social media, get a little bit of good feeling from it, fuck with their social platform a bit by filling it with stuff, that I know from personal experience, tends to freak out really conservative, homophobic white dudes (the amount of freak outs I've seen at even being mentioned NEAR anything gay from shitbags like this, is astounding let me tell you.)

I mean, technically speaking, nothing is accomplished by flipping someone off that offends you, or telling them to fuck off for being an asshole. But we've all done that to some level. It's not about THEM, it's about US. Eh, to a degree I guess, but my experience, living in the south, surrounded by homophombic bigots, is that no amount of lionizing male physique is going to make them want to suck the cock. A large number of them though, are pathologically afraid of being associated with it at all. I mean they violently recoil at the mention of it. I know, because I actually used to test a lot of them at my old job. I would ask them casually if they were a homosapian, and you could see their brain just shut down as soon as I uttered "homo", and they would flinch away from me and look around in panic, to see if anyone overheard me asking them. "Hell no!! get away from me!" or some variant would be the common response. Not ONCE, did any of them actually realize I simply asked if they were a human. The truth is, a large number of the people that rally to causes like this, are fucking idiots, that react in a reflexive manner, instead of actually engaging their brain. Plenty of them are smart yes, but many of them, are just flocking to a comfortable banner, that shares their views about all the Not-Thems in the world, and that get equally aroused at the thought of firearms.

So no, I don't think any significant number of them, are suddenly going to be like 'hmm, you know what, theses gays have got the right idea, I think i'll start taking it up the butt because my Proud Brothers are just that ideal of a specimen of white male, that my own sexual preference has been supplanted."

The closeted members of their group might feel excited a bit, but the majority of them, will only have a negative/indifferent reaction to something like this.
