You just did it to me man. I logged on the other day to take that screenshot and knew I left myself in pretty good shape and now I'm at it again. I even have a marker on me so it's on for sure.
So it sounds similar to a Left 4 Dead 2 sort of multiplayer and I damn sure clocked a lot of hours on that one. Thank you very much for all of the good information.
I won't play 3.6 because they nerfed Elbereth and the game is already hard enough for me without that sort of change. If it were me I'd jump on IRC and ask for a config file reference. You'll get something right away I'm sure.
Well the basic difference is that you have a lot higher chance of making it through the first part of the game as a Valkyrie so good for new player. Past that point a Wizard really shines... from my perspective.
leet_x1337 you are right about that. I wouldn't buy a console for one game or twenty games. Unless something changes I'll be a PC gamer for life. Most of the games I like are FPx and I can't hit a damn thing with an analog stick. Give me a mouse, however, and it's all over jack.
Emulators are pretty easy to setup. You have a primary program and then you have the ROMS which are the actual games. Check this out:

As a side note...
Well a Wizard has a big spell list with with all kinds of utility spells but they are tough to play unless you know the game very well. If you can pull it off though there is nothing like meeting a Minotaur which could normally kill you in two or three hits and zapping his ass with finger of...
Damn Cycloptomese you must be old like me. For me it was mostly Colossal Cave Aventure and Zork 1. My grandma had an Apple II C and I used to play text only Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. That game was almost impossible. Flashbask city for sure.
Well Warframe seems pretty damn cool. It says co-op multiplayer. Can I play alone or maybe with bots? Either way thank you Loop Striken for your suggestion. Game looks tight.
RTS not really my thing although I did play Master of Orion back in the day and admittedly that game does kick ass. Thank you Tanis for taking the time to throw out a few titles. Very cool of you.
You make an excellent point and I had the same feeling when I started as I was groping in the dark by myself with no idea of what to do. I would say however, that Nethack is the only game in which I'd say spoilers are mandatory unless you want to spend 2 to 5 years figuring everything out...
One more comment on the Archons. No way I get through that without charm monster. I'd say impossible based on the situation I was in. He'd summon nasties and I'd charm them to make a buffer between me and the Archons. They were actually doing me a favor with the summons.
Yea that happened to me as well so I've been messing around on my local server. I didn't really realize the mob spawns were related to your level. I used to reverse genocide wraiths and go right up to 30 for the HP and mana but then I get all those Archon spawns. Now I frolick with Foocubi to...
