You know, I actually missed that about the gene splicing in the trailer! Several times! I'm good at this...
I like your reasoning, though. I didn't play Terror from the Deep or Apocalypse very much, but I do remember you could have half human/half sectoid troopers in Apocalypse. (They were...
A very good point, actually. If I were the Ethereals I would keep both around.
Thinking about it, the ethereal's bodies were wasting away, weren't they? The thing that gets sworded in the vid could well have been an ethereal after all.
For the first time in a long while, I am actually excited for a game release.
It may well turn out that the Temple Ship mission was a complete success - but it was hinted that the Ethereals were engaged in another conflict and we were essentially a recruitment opportunity - whatever 'the...
Although a buggy mess, The Temple of Elemental Evil game Troika did is actually one of my fave games of all time. I also loved Arcanum. Yeah, another vote for Troika here.
1986 onwards sounds about right - my Dad came home with a ZX Spectrum +3 when I was very young (That's a whole 128k of memory, suckas!)... but couldn't tell you the exact year.
The UK hadn't suffered so much from the fallout of the Great Video Game Crash and microcomputers like the Spectrum...
The Original UFO: Enemy Unknown - It was a bit too complicated for me when I first saw it. I'd actually played Rebel Star on the 'Speccy, but something about UFO's interface was just too much for me - and the graphics were not very good even for their time. But it's a great experience and I'm...
I had a friend attempt to talk me into a MOBA game so we could team up in it together.
I didn't really know what a MOBA was at the time, so I looked at the website and found that there were incentives for signing other people up, which despite the great length my friend had gone to in...
One of the greatest things about this game, for me, is that you can play it hotseat style and have a few of you playing on the same PC.
I remember one time I somehow managed to capture an Antaran frigate around the early mid-game. My main fleet was all but destroyed in the attempt and I was...
I, too loved BFG. Was gutted when they dropped all support. I get my toy spaceship fix with Firestorm Armada these days. In fact, Spartan Games (The makers of Firestorm amongst some other games) have pretty much replaced GW in my tabletop wargaming life.
I wish they'd remake the old Space...
More a tabletop game thing, but Steampunk. I like steampunk stuff, but seemingly EVERY miniatures game released seems to have to incorporate at least some steampunk themes or art design these days.
Eldritch or Cosmic horror is a close second.
Wasn't the human-xeno hybrid thing something that XCOM: Apocalypse played round with a bit? The psi-troopers were all Human-Sectoid hybrids IIRC. That's kind of a nice nod. Although I didn't much care for Apocalypse.
Anyway, this at least looks a hell of a lot of a better effort than...
I suppose. I liked Neverwinter Nights 2 despite the fact that the game doesn't seem to want you to actually play it. I even started to enjoy the combat after a while. Turning off ALL the AI helps, although you then turn into an OCD control freak because you have to micro-manage your entire party...
