That is a good point, but I personally found games like Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights of the Old Republic one and two, and arguably Mass Effect to be more interesting, because while there was influence with the party members and so on, you could ignore the influence entirely and just do things...

I think that games should adhere to a moral code, if just so that you can still get RPGs where your actions actually matter. Also, having morals in a game can make the plot and gameplay more interesting and immersive.

What about point-and-click adventure games. I am pretty sure that genre was endangered by the time Street Fighter moved out of the arcade.

Personally, I think that gaming of late is catering to the casual crowd a little too much, and subsequently ruining difficulty in games.
