I never did the mod for ARMA 2 but the first flashpoint and the ARMA games are incredible. I've never been so tense as when playing Operation Flashpoint and the 2 expansions/sequels. Awesome!

I do mostly table top but have done a few LARPs and most of them were surprising good. They were however, less focused on costumes and combat and more plot/politically focused.
