    Rethinking Dinosaurs

Think of the chances for subverting a player's point of view with these kinds of discoveries. We expect "raptors" to be human-sized, scaly and toothy... what we see in Jurassic Park, basically. But imagine walking through a dinosaur infested forest, seeing a cute little feathery creature in your...

    Your Dice

True, true, but those triangles don't have a pip, now do they? No, didn't think so. It doesn't count if there isn't a pip (or number) ;) However, I am now going to say I rolled [number] & 267898/(Infinity/6) whenever I roll my spherical six-sided die.

    Your Dice

Thank you all who have replied. I have a lot of reading and mulling over to do regarding your answers. Also, keep them coming! :D Probably not. Also, there is the Gömböc that is technically a d1 or a "monostatic polytope"

    Your Dice

I'm not surprised. It is a kind of novelty die. Basically a ball with a single pip painted on. :)

    Your Dice

Hello fellow Escapists. I was wondering if the good people here could help me with a project I'm doing for a course in material culture as a part of my Master's studies in Archaeology. The subject? Dice and how people interact with them. This is primarily directed towards those that play pen...

Gamers Ruled Ancient City in Pakistan

Being an archaeologist myself I can tell you that games have not been ignored, they have just never gotten much press. Why give press space to that unimpressive die carved out of bone when you can talk about the cool gold amulet?

    Smash the System!

I found where I saw this. It is from White Wolf Magazine #36, an article called "The World of Future Darkness"

    Smash the System!

Its quite a while since I saw this so I don't remember the exact mechanics but yes, I think as you get more cybernetics your humanity/morality lowers.

    Smash the System!

I once saw a smash-up between Vampire: The Masquerade and Cyberpunk 2020. Seemed quite interesting, especially as I remember the author writing that with the advanced technology of Cyberpunk the Masquerade was basically doomed.

    Planetary rings for earth

It would also mean that we would have a completely different calendar system as most cultures have based their calendars on lunar cycles, indeed, the word month is an alteration of the word moon.

The Big Picture: Who's Afraid of Captain America?

Like the two shows of this we have so far. Though, yeah, this one sidetracked a bit but that's Bob's right. It is his show after all. Two things, though: #1: Superheroes are almost solely an American thing. The national/cultural identity of most other, particularly European countries, has...

    Master of the Game

I thought I might add my own opinion after I finished reading the article so I came over to the comments section only to find all my own points already addressed. My first experience with pen and paper RPGs was as a DM of D&D 3e (yes, I'm young). Those first few sessions were pure hack and...

South Korea Will Block Gaming After Midnight

I'm surprised by the reaction people show in regards to this story. This is nothing but: #1 blatant abuse of power by the South Korean government and #2 a fix the symptom not the cause solution. Obviously if that many people are being harmed by obsessive gaming then that is a sign of some...
