Indie Devs Aren't Happy With Steam Greenlight

Hmm, thanks for this advice, we are still pondering how to frame all that. I thought for lets play videos it wasn't that important, because it would be more a review rather than promotional. But after your words I think it's better to be safe and make this disclaimer to avoid any sort of confusion.

Thank you! I was actually trying to figure out how these Steam groups work! But none of my friends or colleagues could explain it to me and I am myself not familiar with that. I will start on it tomorrow, and yes, we have 900+ comments, so we could invite already lots of people. Brilliant! I...

Indie Devs Aren't Happy With Steam Greenlight

grigjd3, I agree with you on pretty much everything. I am trying to look at the Greenlight process both from a point of view of a developer and of a gamer. That's why I am against of proposition of some devs to make Steam like an AppStore. As a developer, I would be happy with that, more or less...

Indie Devs Aren't Happy With Steam Greenlight

You are right about best selling items. However, I don't think Steam wants to idle just by selling AAA items - there are not so many of them, so they are filling the gaps with good indie titles. As to your suggestion to charge more than $100 and accept only that they think are good - this...

Indie Devs Aren't Happy With Steam Greenlight

It's easy to get focused on bad things instead of the good ones. ANY amount of voters or Greenlight viewers is more than what would a developer have without Greenlight. Why not being grateful at least for that? And while as a dev I would love Valve to do all the work for me on promotion, looking...

And if your game is any good or you have some community or do some promotion, then the results could be much better! But yes, right now it's easy to get lost in over 1000 games there, and because of that it's not enought just to hang in there and hope that your game will do well.

Indie Devs Aren't Happy With Steam Greenlight

Ok, here is some information from our campaign on Greenlight. We are making a game called Legends of Eisenwald. We put it on Greenlight on Dec 13, and as of today we got almost 115k visitors and almost 47k yes votes and currently hold #9 position. Now, everyone seemed to have forgotten that...

Poll: What is the most anticipated game for you in 2013?

Asmodeus, thanks for mentioning Legends of Eisenwald! This is the game I am most looking for, because I am developing this game :) But quite a few games on your list I am looking forward too (WL2, AoD and E:C) but I think I will be able to play only after our game is out.
