Arguing over the popularity is silly. If there wasn't a market for bringing a title to the US, you'd never see it on the shelf. Not every game needs to be Modern Warfare 2 to make a buck.
One area to explore is how Blizzard as a company approaches a game. Did they innovate with the original SC? Did any WC title innovate? Blizzard's strength is in polished, user friendly experiences with a lot of depth. Easy to pick up, difficult to master. I'm not sure they are a company you look...
I feel compelled to pick a nit. Warhammer doesn't fall into the category of boardgame like Risk but it's definitely a war game.
