Ok, I know that to judge the entire story of a game you need to finish it but what Yahtzee usually does is tell us about the things that are wrong with the game. This can usually be done within a few hours of play, if not less. Controls, bad voice work, stupid dialog, poorly conceived...
The only games I've ever played on easy right from the start are horror games. I find that I play them just to have the fun of the freak outs, shocks and scares, so the more times I die the less I'm into the game.
All other games I play on the most difficult setting right away so the game...
Plants vs Zombies if she's into popcap like games (cheap and comes bundled with other games)
Lost Odyssey if she's into rpg's with compelling story. (learning curve though maybe...)
Batman Arkham Asylum if she's not afraid of comic books.
