Well, it was a tech demo shown to publishers I believe. Naturally they're gonna highlight some of the spectacular new graphics features they were developing at the time. That was 7 years ago, even before the release of current-gen consoles... and it still looks pretty good, I think. :)...

The first game was still published by Microsoft, though. Rather thank EA for porting Mass Effect to the PC as well as publishing its sequels on PS3 and PC. I really have no strong opinion on EA. It's a company, it's producing a lot of games and that's about it. They and their various studios...
