This is How You Fix RPG Sidequests

Alternatively one could let the player play the quest himself as the party member, which might give further insight into the strengths and mechanics of that party member (since many players seem to concentrate on their own character whenever possible).

This is How You Fix RPG Sidequests

"No, I don't think it would matter so much if you left the choice in Colin's hands; after all, there should be SOME penalty for fobbing the quest off instead of doing it yourself." You don't even need to penalize the player; you can just tie the decision made to the personality and...

Three Fabulous Indie Games to Take the Pain Away

I may be beating a dead horse, but if you're a sane RPG fan (= own Skyrim), Enderal offers 30 to 100 hours of gameplay, for the nice price of downloading about 8 GByte of data.

English Version of Massive Skyrim Mod Enderal Released - See the New Trailer

Yes. Mechanically all the skills are different (at least a bit) and the leveling mechanic is, too. On the lore side the game plays in a different world with no ties to Tamriel.

English Version of Massive Skyrim Mod Enderal Released - See the New Trailer

Assets have been re-used, but not that many, and some have been altered to the needs of the game. Others have been newly created. From what I've seen in the Creation Kit so far I'd make the educated guess that a lot of meshes and textures from Skyrim mods can be re-used, but need to be...

English Version of Massive Skyrim Mod Enderal Released - See the New Trailer

The basic concept - yes. But I'm about halfway into the story now (the mod offers a lot to explorers, so I've been sidetracked a lot), and the game has been dealing out some hints that not all is as clear cut as it seems at first.

Cypher System Rulebook Review - The GM's Toybox

Cool, thanks for the info. How is it balance-wise? Numenera still had the very 90ies-style problem of wizard (nano) > warrior (glaive), with high-tier-powers of nanos including teleportation, weather control, or moving mountains, while glaives just got attacks that hit a little bit harder.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Include "Dramatic" Changes

Ah well, either it bombs and Squeenix needs to release FF VI to the PC to recoup losses, or it will be good and Squeenix will release FF VI to the PC for cross-selling purposes. Either way, everybody wins.

Cypher System Rulebook Review - The GM's Toybox

So they removed allocating stat points, chosing a background, chosing fighting moves/esoteries/tricks, chosing starting equipment, chosing initial link to starting adventure, and (optionally) chosing an origin for special powers?

The Last Guardian Officially Revealed (Again)

Am I the only one who thinks the kid is a little piece of shit, happy to use the creature as a walking jungle gym while ignoring all those arrows and spears jutting from its body?

Good Bad Flicks: Death Machine - Sci-Fi Action Horror

Ah, Death Machine, the little movie that could. I was one year into my current relationship when I found out my girl loved this obscure cult classic just as much as I did. It was very romantic moment indeed.

Dragon Age RPG Core Book Review - You Won't Be Disappointed

Do they still have the character creation where you roll each stat randomly because it "helps the old school feel"? Because, you know, that is exactly what I've missed since D&D 3e came out: not being able to play my preferred character concept in my own escapism because...ehm...well...

    United Kingdom Privilege (NSFW)

So...is there a reason there's one of the traditional symbols for homosexual love in the background of the last panel? Just asking.

Trisha Hershberger is Joining The Escapist!

Well, a gimmick gets you a first look, but hardly a following. So benefit of doubt, I guess.

MMO Crowfall Wants to Take Little From World of Warcraft

It was about time more MMOs went sandbox rather than theme-park. Let's just hope they can keep their vision and make it to a sustainable player base. Since I doubt that they'll go Guild Wars 2's route and make resources per player, they might also just drop the name and call it Resource Wars.
