Souls don't really mean anything. I have close to 4 million souls on my character that have literally no purpose from killing people in PVP. Leveling up stats beyond 40 gives negligible results. So it's unlikely you'd want to go beyond Soul Level 250 or thereabouts, even if you were purely PVE...
