This is NOT the first incident. The show 'Law and Order: SVU' (canadians have TVs, yes?) had an episode over two years ago that was inspired by an incident where canada refused extradition of a criminal on grounds of capital punishment.
Did you know it's the 21st century? Christ ... pull your head out of your arse. I am referring to canada's policy of not extraditing criminals to the US if they think the death penalty may be applied.
