Australian Study "Confirms Dangers of Violent Videogames"

    No, they're 30 years behind everyone :P.

Australian Study "Confirms Dangers of Violent Videogames"

QFT. To those wondering if the study will affect the change in ratings, I honestly doubt it. Our government might not be the most competent in the world, but there's enough gamers excited by the changes in the law and the government's approval rating is so low that they won't take the risk...

Australian Study "Confirms Dangers of Violent Videogames"

xD Our government, whoever it is at the moment*, isn't competent enough implement anything like that :P. *Yes, that is a joke about the Independents and the Greens who allowed Gillard to get into power and who really controls things.

Australian Study "Confirms Dangers of Violent Videogames"

    1) Nudity, including some of the softer sex scenes, swearing and violence are all acceptable for free to air TV from 8:30 onwards. 2) We've got the R rating for video games now. 3) There's less censorship of the internet by Australia than by America 4) Australia a greater freedom of...

Book to Game adaptation? (Altered Carbon)

"The Mark" was apparently [http://forum.jowood.com/showthread.php?t=134745] a rip off of "Scarecrow", which wouldn't be so bad if the gameplay was good (I've only played the demos, but they sucked). That said, I agree. With the exception of Ice Station, a game based on one of Matthew Reilly's...

Book to Game adaptation? (Altered Carbon)

Suggestions: The Ranger's Apprentice: RA is a series of young adult fantasy novels set in what is pretty much an altered version of Europe. I think that the setting would make a great open world RPG that young and old alike could enjoy, especially if they managed to inject the series' humour...

Gamigo Developing MMO Based on Tad Williams' Otherland

I may just give Otherland a go. I enjoyed the books, and the game looks like it's going to be a pretty interesting experience. Who knows, it might even do the complexity of the books justice.

Katanas are also not uberswords capable of cutting through everything, up to, and including, "inferior" western swords. (not that I'm saying that you think that, I'm just adding to your comment).

There's a fine line between "inspired by historic events" and "a fantasy story set in an alternate universe", which a lot of Hollywood movies tend to cross.

Yeah, I agree that there's not much to go on and that Homer would have based certain bits and pieces on his own times. I'm probably going to have to agree with you that iron wouldn't have been all that widespread, since I've just found the first page of a journal article saying...

I pity the original script writers. What they started out with was an interesting twist on the Robin Hood legend that was also period correct. Then Ridley Scott got hold of it and turned "Nottingham" into "Robin Hood". The amount of effort they went to in order to get things right, even...

Check out "Kokoda". There aren't any Americans there to save the day, and MacArthur gets derided. Thank goodness that there's one movie intelligent enough to do that.

Yeah, I'm aware that the Trojan War is dated to the early 12th Century BC, which is pretty much when the Greek Dark Ages started [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_Dark_Ages]. At this point, iron tools and weapons were increasingly common in areas that the Greeks had access...

Because then you wouldn't be basing it on a true story/much loved legend ;).
