It's not exactly the end of your prospects forever, but it helps a lot. Good a levels => Get into a good University => Get a good job that pays well => Have a better quality of life. I know it's not like that for everyone, but anyway good A Levels do help.

I've got the same problem, but it happened throughout playing the game: couldn't find my husband anywhere, or anything. Seemed a bit tempremental though, so sometimes he'd be there after I'd left my 360 for a few hours or something? So yeah, completed the main quest and not all of the side...
