    Before There Was Halo

I played it on PC when it finally got released. That was about two years after the original launch. And while I enjoyed the game I wondered what all the fuzz was about. It was no Medal of Honor.

The Rise, Fall and Rise of Adventure Games

I used to love games like Monkey Island and the broken sword series. But the golden area ended with Grim Fandango and The Longest Journey. A few other good adventure games came after. The Runaway series and the new Broken Sword games come to mind. But these days telltale games are indeed...

    Starcraft II: All In *Spoilers*

Got my ass kicked once on hard and then decided to use my brains. Four bunkers at each side filled with marines and a medic in each. Four-five siege tanks at each side and a perdition tower or two. More than enough to keep things at bay. Just to make sure I built a bunker or three around...

    Activision vs. Sony

Streaming is interesting but not feasible as long as we have these 20gb/month caps in Belgium. So I do believe we will quickly need a new medium. (PC) games are now put on discs of 6 gb. Some on 2 discs. About time we move on to Blu-Ray for games. And a new medium in a decade. Place for more...

Stolen Pixels #105: Left 4 Dumb, Part 21

Heh, I laughed at the "I call dibs on the red one" part. It reminds me of the Ahn'Qiraj instance Blizzard implemented. It had four colors of bug mounts: red, green, yellow and blue. They were all the same speed so no difference really. But they gave the red ones a lot smaller drop chance...

    Little Big MadWorld

I can play goory games and kiddie games on my console! One minute playing plants vs zombies, the next playing a game of painkiller. But I agree that the consoles should broaden their audiences. My sister would like a WII. And although it's probably fun I'd prefer something where I can also...

    E3 Killjoy

Telltale games have made some excellent games at a fast rate. I'm enjoying the second season of Sam & Max. However, their new series Wallace & Gromit have been getting bad reviews so I have stayed clear of those. I just hope it'll end up being as fun as either the old Monkey Island games (1 & 2)...

    The Impossible DRM

Yes, scenario 3 is only possible with very intrusive DRM (think Bioshock) which will also loose you some customers. But it might also win you some pirates who are tired of waiting. And I agree: not having world wide releases on the same day is a dumb thing to do. Not only a games thing, it's...

    The Impossible DRM

The idea of DRM isn't to prevent anyone from copying your game anymore. Eventually it will happen, the idea is to delay it. Scenario 1, worst case: -Game is released on the internet a week in advance of its retail date. Horror! Even people who didn't plan to pirate it might just download it...

Stolen Pixels #37: Part One of Infinity

Ugh, they cancelled the Riddick sequel? It has a two in its name! Damn bad, the original game was a really great shooter!

Stolen Pixels #21: A Heartwarming Reconciliation

So second hand games are popular in the US. Here in Belgium, second hand games are sold via e-bay and similar sites, not via shops. So yeah, no GameStop or GameCrazy ;) And yes, the money you get from selling your games can be used as an investment in new games. It's a win win again.

Stolen Pixels #21: A Heartwarming Reconciliation

Reminds me of this slashdot comment: Spore gave us infinity minus three too few installs. Red Alert 3 will give us infinity minus five too few installs. Not an improvement in my book. I don't think the install limit is really about piracy anyway, it's a method to force you to buy the game...
