Let's Play Dwarf Fortress: Syndrome Conundrum

Dwarf Fortress was recently featured in a New York Times article.. Since all the Dwarf Fortress fans are going to be here anyway, I figured the news wouldn't need its own thread, but still, cool stuff. My favorite quote: "You have more complicated simulations in Dwarf Fortress than when you...

Poll: Skyrim: Victim of the Crippling axe?

Same here, at least for the Elder Scrolls games. Fallout 3 is rather fickle. I'm not too worried about Skyrim.

Let's Play Dwarf Fortress: Syndrome Conundrum

Requesting a re-dwarf here, too! I christen the migrant to come Chal Deon. May he live to... not die, I guess. That would be glorious enough in Reveredtour.

What novel should they make into a game?

I personally think the Dark Tower series would make a great sandbox RPG. It could have environments like the coastal region, the various forests, the mines, the wasteland (of course!) and all the different ruins. There are plenty of bizarre creatures to fill it with, and if they set it at a...

    Poll: Opinions: Dwarf Fortress

It's one of my all time favorites. Eagerly awaiting the night creature overhaul. I'd also like to note that the "awesome" option is in the lead right now, while that lasts.

    Favorite Concept album

Ninja'd by the second post. Into the Storm was the first song I heard from these guys. Metal based on Tolkien? Match made in heaven for nerds like me.

What is Your Favorite Movie that is Over 30 Years Old?

I'll be the first to say Lawrence of Arabia then. An absolute masterpiece that can be described as "epic" without using slang.

Let's Play Dwarf Fortress: Syndrome Conundrum

Well, for what it's worth, I've been getting a kick out of this since its inception. I think your mood has been affecting your judgement of the writing more than its actual quality. Chin up! ...and then down again from kobolds. Bastards are worthless until a squad of bow 'bolds is after...

    Am I screwed?

Agreed. I think tolerance between varying faiths is important, but maybe that's just because I'm an agnostic in the fervently religious state of Utah. It's not like you and your friends need to agree on absolutely everything. Romance gets a bit trickier though, especially if your significant...

If HAL isn't good enough, what about the Satellite of Love? What do you say, Joel?

    Favorite Sci-fi space vessel/captain?

Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January, 1992. No one else? A good captain always keeps the mission a priority, right?

    What's the best Sc-Fi book you've read?

This is a list with plenty of my favorites; overall I'd go with Dune. I think Michael Crichton also deserves a mention for The Andromeda Strain, though it's more thriller than sci-fi.
