I think it comes down to how much recoil you are willing to accept when discussing 7.62 vs 5.56, both are effective cartridges. I think 3 round burst is much more interesting when using 7.62.

If I want some fun adrenaline pumping action I use the semi-auto shotgun with double tap, grip then go mad. :)
