Considering that Kubrick showed Eraserhead to his crew before making The Shining, I think that was the point. The coldness of the film is a part of the atmosphere. Dont Look Now is good, but dont compare it with The Shining as if an affecting, personal horror story was Kubricks goal. Horror...

Not trying to be "that guy", but how many times have you seen Fight Club? I shared the same opinion about it the first time I watched it, but fell in love with it the second time. It is currently in my Top 5. Danny Boyle and David Fincher are truly modern masters of film.
