Definitely 'lore' for the series, though nothing really tied to the games--it's all Japanese exclusive material mostly; stuff about genetically engineered hybridized soldiers, advanced societies and great wars etc. etc.. Generally speaking, Hunters aren't exactly expected to be 'regular' folk...
