My biggest problem with level capping is that is stops you from filling out your stats/skills eg: ME2, even when you've hit max level you can fill several stats but can't fill one or two of them beyond the first dot/square/whatever.
It might be a 'threat meter' - though I've only played paragon so far, I only noticed it being completely blue in the cutscene at the end of the game. In this case the blue would indicate the immediate threat is nullified (even though the big bad is still out there)
Because I like the wierd: a Thri-kreen monk, who had a terrible habit of intimidating people by standing behind his clutch mates eating human arms and such forth, and escaping from trouble by leaping onto tall buildings...
