To be fair, it's 4kid's dub of it that was terrible. When funimation got the rights to it and re-dubbed it, it ended up being pretty good.

I recommend Cowboy Bebop, which is excellently voiced by both the Japanese and American voice actors so it's really a matter of whether or not you want to spend your time reading. I also recommend Berserk, but only if you aren't easily depressed. Berserk does have fantasy elements to it, and...
