I found a game called Final Zone that looks similar to what I remember, but this game definitely had some sort of aliens or giant insects or something of the sort.

Not much information on this one but it was a sega megadrive game. would have been mid to late 90's. I think it had an isometric overhead camera and I think you were some kind of tank and you were killing aliens on different alien worlds. I seem to remember there being a lot of bullet spam...
