I don't think that would fit in with Ash's character. She has been portrayed as very traditional with regards to her beliefs, so it makes since that she is straight only option.

I agree about the importance of the battles, but not all powerful men in Rome rose to prominence in the legions. I'm just saying building that sort of stuff in takes a lot of resources and manpower...

That would be a major issue as I wouldn't want to focus too much on the battles as to take away from the other elements of the game... but RTW battle style would be ideal given how awesome that game was.
