Why do we idealise people based on what they say, or their intentions, rather than their actions?

Well because I was mostly using my teachers example to lead into my argument in the 2nd paragraph, but most people seem to be responding to the first one only, just wanted to know.

Why do we idealise people based on what they say, or their intentions, rather than their actions?

I agree with you actualy, intentions was probably the wrong word there, what they claimed their intentions were, compared to what their actually intending to do.

Why do we idealise people based on what they say, or their intentions, rather than their actions?

I was in my Geography class today and my professor was lecturing the class on the missions in California. He brought up how while Spain sent the Padre's to California in order to "save souls" in actuality they killed off most of the population(mostly unintentional),took the women as sex slaves...

Poll: Is Red Dead Redemption GOTY over Mass Effect 2?

I'm still wondering if I am ever going to wake up and understand why people go ape shit crazy over everything Rockstar throws up. I decided to buy into hype this time, and found a game with mediocre 3rd person shooting, mediocre story, mediocre online, and well...mediocre everything. If they...

A game setting that hasn't been done?

As for a time period, interesting time periods that can be done well in a game have been done. If your talking about something that exists in the real world that video games have not done yet, I have never played a game where you escape from prison, which I think would make a pretty cool game...

A game setting that hasn't been done?

Along with others people had said, Age of Mythology. Technically it did Greek, Egyptian, and Norse Mythology, but it covered it all.

Because its the shit? I don't know why I have only played RE 4 once.

    Your most replayed game

I am probably around 10 or so replays of KOTOR. Second would probably be Psychonauts and KOTOR 2, each coming in with about 5 playthroughs. Other than that, I rarely play a game twice.

    Lamest/WTF?! plot twist

I assumed there was probably some audio message in the game I missed that explained that, or the game just has big gaping plot holes that go largely unnoticed because people think they just missed part of the story.

    Lamest/WTF?! plot twist

You replied with exactly what I was gonna say:) ty good sir. It is very strange to me that a game that is dependent on its narrative(a pretty damn good narrative for a video game)completely ignored, or missed a huge plot hole that I noticed in one playthrough.

    Lamest/WTF?! plot twist

That would be fine, but the game survives on its narrative. It could have fixed this problem by putting in a part that would make you think that Fontaine knew that your character had a little bit of free will left, and that if you thought something was fishy, you may be able to disobey him, but...

    Lamest/WTF?! plot twist

Bioshock Spoiler: At first I really liked the twist for bioshock, I had already figured out that your character is Ryan's son because of the pole dancer scene, and I was pretty sure Atlas was a bad guy, but I thought the twist about him having control over your mind was pretty sick. But then...

    California man BEATS bejewled 2!

Ironic how all the people commenting on the youtube video are saying how he has no life, when they spend their time posting comments bashing people on youtube. 2 Hours a day ain't that much, but I wonder how he did not get bored of playing the same damn puzzle game every day for three years.
