You should check out Chinda Williams Chima's book. She has two series, one is AU, and the other is "earth" as in there is magic, but like HP also is in the "real world." But I prefer her AU Seven Realms books the first one is called "The Demon King." She has a good style and is fairly original.

Are you talking about the play, b/c in the play it's an illusion... they only THINK the forest is coming alive... it's an army disguising themselves with branches... etc.

In The Wizard of Oz they have the "It was a dream thing"... then again it was pretty obvious... and BTW in the book series Oz is REAL... that always upsets me b/c I'm a huge fan of the books, and L Frank Baum's work in general. Nobody gets it rights...
