I still own and play my N64 copy of Perfect Dark. I mean C'mon, look at the multiplayer! AI mechanics that spread across a huge terrain of difficulties, gotta love that.

I don't think the fans really failed EB at all. I mean Nintendo took a shot at bringing a Japanese only title to American shores to extend it's product and sales. Japanese retail is like.... night and day compared to American retail. What works over there won't necessarily work over here...

To start off? FFIV is pretty straight forward, has pretty good characters (albeit 'WAAHHHH MY LIFE SUCKS' Cecil and typical badass Kain) and as far as story goes it's not THAT convoluted? Most FF's tend to be anyways.
Plus I mean c'mon. Tower of Babil? Awesome.
The R-type series, namely Delta and Final.
The story is just super intriguing and the controls are pretty tight (save for the speed boosting into ceilings) and the use of scenery is very well fleshed out.
