I swear. The "you only say mean things because it has X profession!" defense is getting way more repetitive than the "this show sucks cus it's using strippers for hits!" criticism.
It's very hypocritical to suggest those with critiques are ONLY focusing on the day-jobs, all the while ignoring...
The banner pretty much says it all. Actual people or otherwise, with or without feelings, you're being advertised as a spectacle to make a show with poor production seem more interesting.
Someone pointed out it'd get better at show #_____. I continued watching more out of curiosity. None of...
I can't write off Buckley comics because he randomly puts miscarriages and depth attempts in? I can't write off Uwe Boll because he hires prostitutes instead of extras? Luckily all these examples are terrible anyway, but people decide against something on pure morals or disgust all the time. And...
Realistically, Decoy: I wouldn't take what you see in this thread TOO seriously. Artist are as a rule not your target audience. And you're not looking for 350 fans anyway, Escapists wants you to produce thousands. And that'll do just fine with the comic you and your partner produced.
Everyone...
If you want a temp solution you can squat at http://www.eyeshock.com I only put it up 2 days ago while fixing all the internal stuff (mostly bot protection) so it looks like ass right now, but it's functional. The CMS comic thing takes like 5 minutes to setup and it's super sweet...
With all the chat of folks wanting to continue comics I thought I might lend some advice:
For those of you looking to start your site up go google ComicCMS and Free Flash-XML Image Rotator. You can see them both working on http://www.eyeshock.com where I posted Anubis and Paz. (The template...
While I appreciate the honorable mention for Anubis...
With no hint of insincerity: "Poorly Drawn Shark" was my favorite. Fantastic job Davemossmedia.

The name alone sold me.
Alas, my favorite was not the deciding vote...
I hosted a community much like what is being described from the Penny Arcade forums with about 2 dozen artists and it was a nightmare. So from personal experience, you're gonna end up with about 50 artists who aren't updating. Anyone serious about their comic already has plans for it - or will...
Web hosting cost next to nothing. And unless the market changed since last I checked, the profits of a non existent collaboration is still zero. I only vaguely followed the conversation but it sure seems like there's dozens of more important elements for you to discuss if you are serious about...
I dunno if it's been pointed out already or not, but this is typically called a "Fusion" comic and there's actually a whole community devoted to it. I won't bother posting the URL here but if you google it you'll find it immediately.
I've also heard the term "Add-on" coined. But an add-on...
I think the one thing that bothered me about this contest was just how open to interpretation the request was. While that may sound ridiculous to hear out loud when talking about an art contest - I really wish when we sat down to write our new comics we knew which sub-genre was most attractive...
"Anubis" submitted. Any chance at a confirmation everything went through ok? I never feel good about submitting files online. Too many bad experiences with online classes!
Good luck to everyone who entered the contest. You're all winners - except for the ones who don't win the contest...
