Poll: Who was Your Starter Pokemon in X and Y

Froakie becomes a ninja in the end, so no contest! Also, while Chespin has the coolest initial look, I don't really like Chesnaught... It looks too different from it's previous evolutions. Almost as if it's missing an in between form.

    Getting someone into mainstream gaming

At this point, yes I agree. I tried to point out that for those earlier years it might have been inaccessible for her and thus never really got into it. Also, I am near my 30's and childless and living in reasonable wealth. Doesn't mean I can just fork over cash to buy a console or new computer.

    Getting someone into mainstream gaming

How is gaming a very accessible activity? It has quite a steep start up price, which she may not have been able to afford. When I was little, I was lucky that my parents were into gaming and bought a NES and later a SNES. Same with the computer, my parents bought one because THEY found it...

    Learning a language through games.

I learned basic English skills by playing a Link to the Past back when it first came out, as I got tired of always having to rely on my parents to translate the dialogue for me :P That, coupled with watching Saturday morning cartoons on the BBC cause they had cooler cartoons :P

    Fantasy Novels

I really need to recommend Winds of the Forelands by David B. Coe. It's my favorite series. Basically, it's about the Eandi (humans) and Qirsi (sorcerers). Nine hundred years ago, the Qirsi tried to invade the Forelands, but failed. Now, they live among the Eandi but are basically second rate...

So... how about them Giant Robot Shows?

Gundam X is still my favorite Gundam show. The design of the GX is one of my favorites and the kinda post-apolyptic setting is pretty cool.
