To be honest, it annoys thee ever-living HELL out of me that people say that they would use a "Samurai Sword" (Katana, people!) I would use a flanged mace, yeah yeah, but it's too heavy! But it never dulls! and, the mace doesn't take a genius to swing, and even a blow to an arm is going to leave...
