Your description reminds me of "Alien Incident". I never played it, but I remember that it has pretty nice nighttime scenes.
Another possibility is "Tony Tough". It takes place during the night, but I do not think there is a mansion there.
A ghost finding out who murdered him is a pretty old concept. I remember the old text adventure Scapeghost had a similar premise.
