Stalker was reasonably atmospheric though most games aren't immersive enough to progress past the ole survival horror shtick, anything other than a fast zombie is usually Exorcist-type hilarious.

I always thought that the Elder Scrolls had an exemption from that. If they just added in a new plot and some areas to a non-sandbox rpg then i would be disappointed but with Oblivion you didn't really need heaps swanky new features when every new area was huge and detailed and plots well...
