I used to feel the exact same way as you my dear friend, However nearly a month ago now when I was visiting the xbox.com website I saw a very interesting segment on upcoming games for it and to my surprise It had a list of fairly convincing core games on there, I didn't bookmark the page however...

Wow at the start it was quite funny, as it got on it gained a bit of momentum and was actually pretty slick. The effects remind me of the doomsday arcade special effects. I hope there's more of this to come.
