Circumcision: a Pillar of American ignorance

Nobody's doing that. It's the genitals of men with foreskins and without phimosis we're talking about. One important aspect of the pleasures of the foreskin is its rolling action. In phimosis that is obviously comprommised. That table is not a between-country comparison, it is a series of...

Circumcision: a Pillar of American ignorance

Another influence was a late 19thC California lung-doctor called Peter Remondino. He made up the "we used to need it when we ran through the brambles, but no longer" meme out of his head: http://www.circumstitions.com/remondino.html . And see what else he had to say...

Circumcision: a Pillar of American ignorance

This is exactly the kind of topic on which Wikipedia can not be trusted. As it happens, there is an expert Wikipedian who patrol(l)s the circumcision entries ensuring they support his favourite operation. He's made more than 10,000 edits on the topic, and also co-authored papers with...

Yes, the personal choice of the person most directly concerned - in fact the ONLY person directly concerned - when that person is old enough to make that personal choice.

Circumcision: a Pillar of American ignorance

As with many "scientific" studies of this issue, you are ignoring the rôle (and the roll) of the foreskin itself. It has >20,000 specialised nerve endings - quite comparable to those of the fingertips - concentrated in a ridged band around the tip that are invariably lost to circumcision. The...

Circumcision: a Pillar of American ignorance

    * With a Gomco or Mogen Clamp it's sliced - and a Mogen may take more than just the foreskin, which has led to successful claims worth millions and the Mogen company going out of business. * With a Plastibell or PrePex it's crushed and allowed to die. * With an Accu-circ it's chopped. But...
