My parents have only ever grounded me for grades. I didn't even technically get grounded when I got caught smoking pot. They took away my car for a week but I could still walk places and get picked up. My parents were awesome. Haha

Try to learn a new song every day. It takes time but it pays off. Make sure you learn songs from multiple styles to diversify what you know. That's pretty much all i can say. Worked for me.
