why does grinding have such negative connatations?

consider this for a moment: my first experience with the concept of 'grinding' was in Final Fantasy 7 and 8.... although i didn't call it "grinding" at the time. before this point in my gaming career, i had played countless games with strong character development, ability progression...

    Your very first game

hehe, i can trounce most of you here, but i'm beaten by a select few. my first computer games were on the BBC Micro, and it was either: - XOR (best puzzle game ever?... and it HAS to be the BBC version... the other, later one was RUBBISH) or - Bonecruncher i had thousands of...

Would an MMO work on a console?

i've never played a console MMO, although there have been several (and succesful) ones, FFXI is a good example. i think it would be a really good control method, to use a pad for an MMO.... - dual analog sticks for movement and camera - jump button >_< - the four (or more) standard...

If You had a Portal Gun...

here's something that you could try: point the portal gun up, and fire one off into the sky...... millions or perhaps billions of light years away, a portal would form on the first solid object larger than a person that the beam encountered. of course, you run a slight risk there, because...

    shotguns in games

he wasn't contradicting himself. the example he gave of a 2ft spread at 1 meter was from a game, not real life.

    best in-game item EVER.

this could be anything from a weapon to a miscellaneous item. the item needs to be compelling in some way.... perhaps it's funny..... perhaps it has nostalgic value..... perhaps it was the MOST AWESOME THING EVER at the time.... i've got a couple of favourites (but not really...

are MMORPGs the death of the single player RPG?

see, i definitely still "prefer" single player RPGs.... but i find they don't necessarily have the same kind of 'impact' that they used to. also, to the guy/girl who's looking forward to Diablo 3? i say YES!

are MMORPGs the death of the single player RPG?

me and a friend got thinking about this the other day.... years ago, we got into final fantasy games, in a pretty big way, and played them loads, even played them together for added smack-talk value etc. we were aware of MMORPGs for years, but, like many people, only made the plunge with...

    Warhammer online Europe.... let's discuss!

well that's not strictly true....... in Europe, any free product you recieve that comes with something you've bought, legally counts as being paid for. in the product details, the description said 'guaranteed open beta access'..... and as of this second, nobody has really had that yet. so...

    Warhammer online Europe.... let's discuss!

yeah, some people are pretty obsessed. me and my friend, however, sat around watching films and chatting, and generally doing stuff we'd normally do.... with the occasional check to see if anything new had happened on the forums. i imagine a load of people did something similar.

    Warhammer online Europe.... let's discuss!

the headstart thing is actually seperate..... anyone with the collector's edition gets access to the full final release of the game a couple of days before everyone else..... i'm hoping they've fixed the problems before then. lol.

    Warhammer online Europe.... let's discuss!

so, if you are at all interested in Warhammer online, it's possible that you may have been witness to the colossal meltdown that happened yesterday. let me outline a few things, so people don't argue about the facts: from the top. Mythic, the company responsible for this promising MMO...
