Why modern fps aren't fun, or rather why some people feel they aren't.

The debate, at least as I've read it, isn't necessarily about the "fun-ness" of the FPS genre, but more about how quickly a game gets stale, or whether it simply turns into a long and drawn-out grinding mess as you strive to just unlock little decorations for your tags. The Call of Duty...

Does this make me a horrible person?

' While it's probably not the most politically correct way of responding, I can see where you're coming from. Because of the way that social media has pervaded our lives, it has now become "trendy" to constantly talk about whatever disaster/relief effort/latest destruction has occurred...

Nintendo Praises Independents, Devalues "Garage Developers"

This kind of opinion just seems so short-sighted. I know that it's been nearly 30 years since these companies got started, but Donkey Kong, Popeye, Mr. Game and Watch, and the like... Those were all games that these guys put together as start-ups themselves. Now, just a few decades later...

Insignificant things that make you RAGE in games

The "six-inch wall." I loathe this. I don't know how many times I've been playing an FPS, doing fine, smoothly running from one thing to another, when suddenly I'm completely stopped in my tracks by some little piece of game geometry the size of a soda can. My soldier, apparently because he's an...

    Poll: Coke or Pepsi?

I'm strange. I like Pepsi better than Coke, except for Cherry Coke, which is better than Cherry Pepsi. I guess I just like what I like and that's it?

Sledgehammer Aiming to Make Best Call of Duty Yet

Wow. I bet Treyarch set out for a much more mediocre goal with Black Ops. Honestly, shouldn't EVERY developer be looking to make the best game possible? But more realistically, if they simply bring out the same-old, same-old, then they'll still sell a ton of copies, but if they want something...

Your weapon of choice in the 14th century (with a twist!)

Though I like the way that the ammo is unlimited in ME1, I think the punch of weapons like the Mattock or the Revenant from ME2 would be well worth the trade-off, especially if you had a steady supply of Thermal Clips to work with.

Your weapon of choice in the 14th century (with a twist!)

Wait, this is in the 14th Century, with unlimited ammo? Give me something like an N7 Assault Rifle (Mass Effect), and I think I'd be able to handle just about any problem that I might have to deal with, especially in London. When the common man doesn't even know how to use a sword, being able to...

Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I hate to disagree, but the story doesn't require any thinking on any level. It plays at being a suspenseful, "what's-going-on" story, but the execution ruins it. That's not to say it COULDN'T have been a great story, but even a great story badly told is a bad story. I mean, there was a lot...

Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops

Finally! I've just been waiting for someone to finally say this like it is. Every reviewer and his mother has been singing praises about this game, and I just couldn't figure it out. I kept thinking, "Did they play the same game that I did?" I loved Modern Warfare. Loved Modern Warfare 2 even...

So, I'm dating my cousin now... Yeah...

From how you describe it, the two of you are like, what, fourth or fifth cousins? To be honest, if people did a little genealogy, I'm sure they'd be quite surprised at who they're that closely related to. But as far as your situation, I wouldn't do anything too rash until you're sure, and...
