I see that Zero Punctuation's reviews are still biased as all fuck about JRPGs in general.
He did a poor job reviewing FF13 and I see he still continues the trend with FF15. Jeez Yahtzee, you suck at reviewing big time. If you actually played the games fully, you would have seen that FF13 is...
I believe it's because of three reasons:
1. The fashion guy (Nicolas Ghesqui?re) wanted Lightning and only Lightning
2. Sakurai already is doing the promotion with Smash
3. Japanese fans eat this up because she's a huge deal over there.
That's because they were going with the huge Japanese fan favorite female. Also, FF10 is a HUGE fan favorite game in Japan. Why do you think FF10 started the whole subseries stuff in the first place.
Plus this works better than what Nintendo did with Bayonetta and had a Playboy girl cosplay...
I find it hilarious that people completely ignore the fact that he said "dramatic changes but still recognizable". It could most likely be FF10-2 combat with FF13 animations/movements put together.
And for the OP "old FF is better than modern" fanboy argument, FF1-3, FF5, FF8 and FF11, FF12...
You are misquoting Kitase. He was talking about how the third game was only going to have a sole protaganist instead of a group like the other two.
Toriyama already stated several times that FF13 was not designed for sequels and that they were not a thing...
You mean the fact in which that FF13-2 (and therefore allowed LR) was actually asked for by the fans?
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XIII-2#Development
Or the fact that 3.1 million people bought FF13-2 knowing what FF13-2 was (like they did with FF10-2)...
1. FF4 only introduces the characters, but it does not develop them. The lack of development and only showing the archtype does not make good characters.
2. The task of "Go to a Village to deliver something" is not the main storyline and lacks any form of connection to the major plot points...
Movies and RPGs are completely different. Movies are just two hours to 1.5 hours long due to the fact that you don't control what happens in a movie, and you just watch what happens on the screen. Plus character development is very simplified in movies as well (the characters in the LOTR books...
I've always found it very unfair for Zero Punctuation to put Final Fantasy XIII and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on the top 5 worst list when he's only played 3-5 hours of said games each. You can't know what an RPG is about in said 3-5 hours story wise, character development wise...
I find it hilarious that nobody is complaining about these sentences:
Why do I find it hilarious? Because this is essentially LESS control than Final Fantasy XIII did. In Final Fantasy XIII, they controlled one character directly, but you could control the actions of the other characters...
Actually, from what I have read up, a lot of people have either played the game, played a game from a friend's house or have been told positive things about said game. I know it's forum discussions (and internet comments aren't well known for being accurate), but if something like this game is...
That's not exactly cheap. Cheap is what Arkham Origins is selling at right now. The people who are selling that game are so desperate that they have to cut down the game's price by 75%. Plus the game hasn't even come out yet and so far Steam users seem to be pleased...
PC people must REALLY like to see this game on Steam. Right now, it's the best seller on there and the game isn't even out. Hell, it's already beaten out the Borderlands Pre-Sequel and LotR: Shadows of Mordor. It's like 15 dollars there.

Pretty much. Jim even knee-jerked everybody with the Lightning Returns character design of Lightning instead of using the original design that everybody remembers.
