My favorite would have to be Salein my human mage. Created in 2e, updated for 3.5e, and recently 4e. He was the old style of Chaotic Neutral (basically... crazy) and remained so even after the changes to the alignment system.
This led to him charging in bashing people with a staff instead...
I personally just hate when my girlfriend tries to do it to me. I don't bruise easily so when she refuses to stop it usually gets quite painful. Also the fact that she occasionally draws blood isn't too fun.
For everyone saying how the mugger was shot 8 times, read closer. There were 8 shots fired but he was only hit 4 times. Also, after being hit in the face and disorientated, its difficult to 'just shoot them in the leg'. Firing a warning shot or just aiming it at the people give them enough...
I grabbed my guitar. If I get rescued I can either use it as a club or try to sooth with lack of skill.
Otherwise I guess I'll just kinda pose and wait.
Weis and Hickman are great reads, I've always been a fan.
The Dresden Files is a great series by Jim Butcher. 11 books so far I think... mixture of fantasy and modern day detective work.
