I read the first book, then watched the first series. However I did then read all the books again while waiting for the second series.Now i'm all caught up so far and decided to read the short stories of Dunk and Egg.
I suppose it depends on how much you really want to know about whats going...
Two that mainly stick out are:
Stephen King - "Be true, be brave, stand. All the rest is darkness."
And:
Sherlock/Mycroft Holmes - "Sherlock Holmes: Look at them. They all care so much. Do you ever wonder if there's something wrong with us?

I still need to play the first two before contemplating buying ME3, however saying that currently Fallout 3 is occupying my time and that will be followed by New Vegas.
Getting on with stuff, reading, decorating gaming and ignoring the fact that the guys I would like are Gay, Taken or fictional Characters played by quite fit actors. >.>

As for Twilight >.> Well i can see on one hand how badly written it is and how the whole human falling for a vampire is so overused but something about it keeps me reading it. Hate the movies though.
