L.A. Noire and Alan Wake so badly written, awful mechanics who didn't work at all.

I have no idea. The budget needed is high and the failure risk is huge. I think that they are mostly done by failed movie/tv writers or directors turned game designers. They may be cool cinematic game but I don't think this is the right direction for gaming.
