I kind of like the change. What bored me the most about MMOs was the need to grind lvl by lvl. The social aspect is fun, this game just replaces mundain grinding with an interesting story and side quests. Not that many side quests are go out and kill X creatures, some are hey go talk to this guy...

You got to remember Mario is just one franchise and is targeted to KIDS. The younger foke do not remember the old gameboy and NES days. Each gaming platform of Nintendo makes sure to have it's own mario game off the bat to attract a NEW generation of kids to their brand.
