    Zero Punctuation: Mass Effect

I liked Mass Effect, and I think you do lose a fair bit not doing the side quests. However, I am impressed that Yahtzee actually took the time to point out that he didn't do the side quests. However, I am always a sucker for story, so if you aren't interested in story I could see it being tedious.

O Rareware, Rareware! Wherefore art thou Rareware?

Wow, I totally forgot they made "Snake, Rattle and Roll" Damn, that game would make an awesome XBLA port......

    Crysis and UT3 tank

I was running Crysis reasonably well on a X2 3800, 2 gig Ram and a 7900GT..... I didn't think that system was exactly huge. I had to turn down *A LOT* of the features and run it at a lower Res (though still higher than 360 or PS3 put out). I did upgrade to a 8800GT and now the game runs well...

Creating Games for Legacy systems and late adopters

Stevesan- I think the other side of this coin is good art direction vs good graphics. Good graphics is actually not very hard. You can "brute force" your way into some great looking graphics by hiring the right people and setting the right expectations. Good Art direction, on the other...

Creating Games for Legacy systems and late adopters

Well, I don't know too many game publishers who would be able to get venture capital for that. The truth is a lot of people SAY they would spend $60 on good gameplay with poor graphics, but then the independent publishers who are delivering that never have customers. I don't know if you pay for...

Creating Games for Legacy systems and late adopters

I think that as long as the game cycle is for AAA titles, most software houses don't want to spend a year working on a game that won't get the acclaim that "next gen" titles get. I agree there is a market. I think the market would be best met by smaller software houses making more progressive...

    fallout 3. what you know?

In one of the interviews they said that AP would translate in real-time too. And that in tougher fights you will need to use the VATS system as you will be more effective in that. Again, I am trusting what is said rather than assume they are lying.... And ROF is a skill (in semi-auto guns)...

What is it that makes us who we are?

Didn't the press release not mention IW at all? That's a step in the right direction. Holiday Season 09, right?

    fallout 3. what you know?

Things you do use action points You can pause and queue up actions Your accuracy, ROF, etc are based on skills, not player reflexes. To me that sounds more tactical as opposed to Twitch-gaming. The "How do I use the next 5 seconds" is relevant because you may only have enough action points...

    fallout 3. what you know?

See, I am getting the vibe that as first person, it will still be more tactical. "How do I use the next 5 seconds, fire the last of my magazine and hope I'm still standing, or stay hidden and reload"... Maybe I am being optimistic though. It seems like a great concept and I have some faith in...

    fallout 3. what you know?

I think a lot of the Rumours here are coming out of "No Mutants Allowed". It seems they are on the right track with having effect on the world, interacting with NPCs, and an interesting looking combat system. I love the fact that you have to track down food and water. I think thats a great...
