KONY 2012 [seriously important you guys check this out]. Now with more facts!

That's certainly one way of looking at it... I've read them, and was already aware of Invisible Children's dubious record. They're still not remotely comparable, in my view, but that's a personal assessment. Do you dispute the assertion that media raising issues in the popular consciousness...

KONY 2012 [seriously important you guys check this out]. Now with more facts!

The word 'neighbor' is pretty well established as having a broader meaning than that, man. 'Love thy neighbor' and all that, y'know? For one thing, that hyperbole is not helpful (more corrupt than the US governmnent or Putin? Seriously?). For another, this sort of awareness raising exercise...

How is the American War for Independance taught in the UK?

To be fair, most Americans are just as ignorant of the morally dubious (at best) things their country has gotten up to. Occupying Haiti and forcing them to replace their constitution with a less democratic one comes to mind.

How is the American War for Independance taught in the UK?

Yes, it belongs to them. It isn't a part of them. The American colonies belonged to England. They were not part of England. That means it isn't a civil war. And why did you write this in a response to a comment about Scotland? Do you think England owns Scotland or something? And the people in...

Scotland was part of the UK. You said England. It's like saying Hawaii isn't a part of New England.

Gibson was the director too... I hold him entirely responsible for that travesty. And all wars, pestilences, and natural disasters.

How is the American War for Independance taught in the UK?

I don't think that's true for most of them. See above. Really? Where is the USA on this map: England owned America. That's not the same as America bing a part of England. Taking English property doesn't make it a civil war. The USA took British property. Now we're getting somewhere.

How is the American War for Independance taught in the UK?

Own up to the 'civil war' that America started...? Never mind that. A civil war has rival factions claiming to represent the civilians of the country. Each faction is vying for control of the country. This didn't happen in the American revolutionary war. The colonists (well, most of them)...

Maybe he heard about it, or knew that Mel Gibson was involved. You know the princess that William Wallace is supposed to have slept with, the wife of Prince Edward, who then gets pregnant, thus making the Royal family the progeny of William Wallace? She was three when he died.

No, you are. Do you think the Hungarian Revolution was a civil war too? A revolt is not a civil war. It's not a hard thing to understand.

Overthrowing a government is not the same thing as a civil war.

Other Americans in this thread are even disagreeing with you. America was a colony. A civil war is fought within one nation. An empire is not the same thing as a nation. Tell you what, I've added the American Revolutionary war to the list of civil wars in wikipedia. Let's see how long it...

Historians? And unless 'buzzle' is an onlooking nation, I've never seen any nation recognise it as a civil war.

How is the American War for Independance taught in the UK?

It wasn't a civil war. You can look at it like that if you want, as can the writer of that article, but it's decided by consensus, and the vast majority of people do not hold the Ameriacn Revolutionary War to be a civil war.
