I am in the publishers club for this reason:
"Ad Free Viewing: While logged in, the site should not display any ad units or video ads."
This was the last straw, my publishers club subscription is now cancelled.
What happened Escapist, you used to be cool.
From the article: "On its own, Activision came in at number 18, representing 0.85% of the company responses sample. Added to Blizzard the percent is 6.11% and still 3rd place."
That message wasn't for the gamers. It was for their shareholders, that know nothing about games. They know about money and Dungeon Keeper is somewhat "innovative" in that regard :-)
Oh Phil, I might disagree with you, but thanks for being honest and speak your mind :-)
There is a problem though with story driven games though. I have skipped games that I might otherwise have bought, after watching a youtuber play it.
Cook has no vision, so dipping his hand into the "development pool" would not make no difference. Like most CEOs of large companies, he looks at the market rather than the product. So they will always be behind, but others will take their place :-)
My problem is not with the F2P model. It's how the game is usually designed around it, limiting what you can do as a developer. (Jonathan Blow did a good talk about this subject, just google 'Jonathan blow free to play' if you are interested)
Single player games will die if Tommy Palm is right.
Thanks, exactly that :-)
I have become a lot more aware of who gets my money in the last couple of years. That is why I subscribe to The Escapist, but if Facebook bought them, I would unsubscribe immediately.
Wanted to buy one firstly to support the project and secondly to play around with it. No reason to support the project anymore, they have all the money they need. So no Oculus for me.
That is pretty impressive from a technical point of view, going from 2 fps to 30.
It won't work with lag though.
They present it like CPU / GPU power is free in the cloud, so you can just make whatever bad implementation and throw more power at it! At no cost for the customer / developer?
No, just no! At best, you will get funding for another facebook game.
But thanks to this news for reminding me about the original. Now where did I put it... oh its right here on my Steam list, silly me :-)
I really loved the 7th guest, but seems like this one is for mobile devices and touchscreen tablets. That is not the way I want to play it.
Also, this seems more like a penalty, than a reward:
Stretch Goal #4: $1,000,000+: Will create an expandable game that allows inexpensive in-app...
I thought them the title that it was about electrical power, as in 'using less power'.
But I guess Sony does not have some of the smartest graphics programmers IN THE WORLD?
