I wish "Axe" was in the choices. Because that's really the only actual weapon I have.
But since it wasn't an option, I went with Flame thrower. Mostly because it makes me a chance to be awesome before inevitably getting killed.
A lot of things are already mentioned. Not sure if this one is, but...
Scorch (to himself):"Was it red-red-green or red-green-red?"
Sev:"And he's supposed to be the demolitions expert"
-Star Wars: Republic Commando
My response would depend on how much control the government has over society. If it's something like the US government had during the prohibition, I'd probably just listen to the illegal music until the government eventually lifts the ban. If it's something like the iron grip Stalin had during...
It wasn't that hard, IMHO. You just had to use the right weapons. Most of the time, the right weapon was pistol and melee attack, with the occasional grenade. Heck, melee attack was the only good attack against those darn shielded droids.
No game has ever really blown me away... But I can name some of the pleasant surprises: NWN2, Civ 4 and Star Wars: Republic Commando (Single player only. MP was like any other FPS, sadly)
I agree with the rest of your statements, but auto-save on PC games isn't that bad. On lower-end PCs, or if you're running windows on a virtual machine (like I am), then crashes can happen on games with high requirements. Auto-save is good as a failsafe for those instances.
Two things I'd really love to see. First, a chainsaw axe. Second, a full-auto grenade launcher with a clip larger than 10 rounds.
Both exist in tabletop WH40k, but no WH40k computer game has gotten the second quite right. Friggin THQ has completely messed up the Bolter in both Dawn of War and...
I'll go with alcohol. There are way too many problems caused by alcohol to list here, but I have to agree that it's not necessarily the invention that's evil. Alcohol is also used in medicine to clean wounds.
Sci-Fi MMORPGS that aren't like EVE online. I hear that a WH40k one is being developed, and I pray weekly that they don't screw it up. If that comes out to just another level-grinder, then...yeah. It would suck very much.
@Simulord Trust me, it's better than having seniors as half the electocrate. Those senile twits would vote for a dictator (Trying to avoid Godwin's Law) if he promised a higher state pension.
Anyway, on the soccer mom thing. I think that the main thing holding back the development of games as...
Maybe that's the usual result when someone has both geek in their soul and crazy in their head. 'Cause I'm like that too.
As for the question.. I don't really think out loud, but I occasionally pretend (in my head) that I'm shouting WH40k Space Marine quotes at the enemies I kill in FPSes.
