Poll: Digital Download or Buy CD

This is pretty much how I feel about it. Steam's just way more convenient all the way around and there's a little less plastic cluttering up my house.

    254: Playing for the Story

Good article. I usually set action-type games to easy the first time I play because dying 40 million times isn't fun, especially if the last save is a while back. After I get used to a game, I might turn it up, or I might just enjoy the feeling of being a total badass for a while. :) In...

Zero Punctuation: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

I just played this, so it was a timely review for me. I found the game mediocre and disappointing; I think I need to try the real SH games everyone loves so much.

    Immersion breakers

How funny, I never even noticed that he doesn't have his hands on the wheel of the cars (probably because they drive like crap and I'm busy being frustrated). The thing that always bothered me about Gordon's limbs (apart from not being able to line up jumps by seeing my feet) is that there's no...

    "Rediculous"

Tongue-Clucking Grammarians ftw! I'm with the OP, learn to spell dammit. Ridiculous and definitely get abused so much these days, it drives me mad.

Question of the Day, March 25, 2010

I voted for cat, and I include big cats in that. A house cat's cool, but a tiger's way cooler. :)

You know when you play games too much when...

This is similar to mine: Trying to quick save in real life. One holiday weekend I played games for about two days straight then went out for a bike ride. After dodging around some particularly stupid pedestrians and a pothole, I actually reached for the quick save button.

    Please, no more...

^This. Also, NPCs (companions or otherwise) who get in my way, and "deliver this letter" quests that no actual hero would take time out from saving the world to complete.

Poll: When you see that Yahtzee is reviewing a game you actualy like, What do you do/think?

There's always something wrong with even the very best games. Yahtzee just points it out in a funny way. So far I haven't minded him taking the piss out of games I enjoyed.

Question of the Day, March 7, 2010

I voted for other. The only games with zombies I ever really played are the Half Life games and House of the Dead, so I have to go with HL here. They have a good variety, zombification can happen to anyone, and there's a clear cause of the condition. Also they actually do scare me on occasion...

236: The Stories We Tell Ourselves

Personally, I prefer more linear games with a good internal story. I never play multiplayer (too much hassle and too many idiots) and I hate that 'wtf do I do now' frustration of a poorly designed sandbox. I hope your predictions aren't entirely accurate and that both kinds of games continue...

Take The Escapist Girl Power Quiz

Just guessing, I got 2 out of 10 my first time through. I never played any of those games apparently. Oops! My favourite vg girl at the moment is definitely Alyx Vance. She's a strong and a good fighter without being shrill or manish, and she's clearly emotional and feminine without...

A View From the Road: Dungeons, Directed

I don't really play MMOs (mostly because I got sick to death of that graveyard in WoW), but this seems like the sort of thing many games should implement. Dying and reloading or having to go find your body is the best way to lose immersion and ramp up player frustration. Autoleveling is bad...

    Twilight of the She-Geeks

I'm a girl geek and I hate Twilight, almost as much for making everyong think this is what girl geeks like as for being awful. It's boring, poorly written, derivative (she pretty much admits up front to ripping off Shakespeare, the Bronte sisters, and Jane Austen), and it teaches terrible...
