Combat wise, any one who is well trained and can shoot straight should be allowed wise.
Problems only really occur within the military itself. I suppose female only regiments would be best, if there are enough willing female soldiers.
The story, I can kinda understand why its so predictable. Its supposed to be very cartoon like, so the story is gonna be simple. It also allowed for the really funny scientists and the cool Hannibal.

Okay, this shouldn't be a 'geek only thing'. The average human should have a greater desire to see giant robots fighting giant monsters than seeing Adam Sandler doing the same thing he has done in every other film he has ever been in.
I hope it was aliens who made us. That would be a hell of a fun origin story, prove that we're not alone, and they may be able to smack some sense into us

That's what annoys me most about Halo games. Most of the expanded fiction has some pretty amazing stories and lore, but whenever it comes to the main focus of halo, the recent games, the story ends up as a consulted mess.
