Rejection... how do you deal with it?

It wasn't long ago that I asked a girl out for the first time (21 btw) and got rejected and I will be honest, I did sob for a bit and couldn't get it off my head especially as I felt like I had a real chance with this girl...ye know giving off all the signs. But once I got all that stuff out of...

So I've Never Had Physical Contact Before...?

Believe me when I say you are not the only person in this situation. I'm in my third year at uni, 21 years old and have terrible luck with the women. Asked one girl out who I thought I had a chance with and got rejected, having crap luck on dating websites to the point where my mates taken over...

Another World Creator Says Low Budgets Offer Creative Freedom

I have to agree with this statement not just for the reasons people have already said but a few others. If you have a smaller budget you usually have less resources at your disposal and in a way forced to innovate in order for your game to stand out amonst the crowd. It's easy for the AAA...

Getting back into Final Fantasy 13

Ok so after a long long time of not playing the game (mainly down to boredom) I decided to pick it back up to try and properly finish it off and get a few achievements along the way. Problem is though I'm a little out of touch as to what to do so if I describe where I am fellow readers can offer...

What makes a good video game character?

The module that involves characters is called Writing for Design, we're essentially picking a topic and researching into that. It gives full freedom into the world of design so I could have picked anything from copyright, typography, advertisment, ethics and more. Even then there's freedom to...

What makes a good video game character?

This is confusing, when you say "likeable" do you mean a character that someone would agree with? A good (well-designed) character should always be likeable (enjoyable) but that doesn't mean that likeable (enjoyable) character needs to be the hero. Villains benefit JUST as much for good...

What makes a good video game character?

I was thinking that a good character is one that is well written, well rounded and has a personality with motives, goals and their own background whereas a likeable character is one that is designed for the audience to empathise with rather than a case of morality more than artistic. So...

Why modern fps aren't fun, or rather why some people feel they aren't.

From what most people have said it sounds like the general problem with modern FPS's is that although they seem like they are innovating, in fact they are moving backwards from what made the classics so great in the first place. Level design is linear compared to these free roaming worlds...

What makes a good video game character?

So for some time since I started this theory module in my Graphic Design course at uni I've been more and more interested in characters not just in video games but other mediums as well (for the sake of the course it's advertising), as well as Extra Credits and other places now questioning the...

    Things every game needs

The main reason I say for a button press in the cutscene itself is because having to do it in the menu just feels so slow for something so simple. For example Assassin's Creed, I have to press start to get the menu (which takes a fair few seconds), find the option to skip, tell I want to skip...

Poll: Do Metal fans like any other genres?

My main musical genre of interest is Metal so I would call myself a Metalhead but I'm not ashamed to admit I like a fair few bits from Country, Pop, RnB and other stuff. I grew up on a lot of music which is considered cheesy pop music of the 90's so I'm not ashamed to go crazy when I hear it in...

    Things every game needs

Skippable cutscenes. It doesn't sound like a big deal but the fact that theres an option makes a huge difference. Also just make it a simple button press and not something you have to go into the main menu for as it's just irritating!
