Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is said to be a fantastic prequel although I've not played it, someday! I bought Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep today and from the 5 hours I've played of it so far, it is amazing. It's a prequel set 10 years before the very first game.
